Winter weather is expected in Eastern Pennsylvania this week as the state could feel the impact of a larger storm coming to the Northeast.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for parts of Eastern Pennsylvania, saying a mix of snow and rain is possible Thursday that could make travel hazardous at times. Snow showers are also predicted for Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, as much as four inches could fall in the Poconos and Northern New Jersey north of I-78. Even in the Philadelphia region, including in Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties, some snow is predicted to fall on Thursday but precipitation will be primarily rain after noon.
The winter weather continues Friday, when “scattered snow squalls” are expected, which could make for hazardous travel conditions and poor visibility.
A strengthening storm, meanwhile, will deliver heavy snow and wind to New England before the end of the week. People continuing with their holiday journeys or beginning their end-of-the-year vacation could face some problems in the Northeast due to the storm, according to AccuWeather.
Regardless of the type of precipitation, the storm will cause extensive travel disruptions on Thursday and Friday. Road conditions will range from wet on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, to snow-packed in central New Hampshire and northern Maine, according to AccuWeather.
